Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress is when a person intentionally inflicts extreme emotional trauma or distress upon another person.
The elements of intentional infliction of emotional distress are:
- Extreme and outrageous conduct
- With either the intention of, or reckless disregard for, causing emotional distress,
- The plaintiff’s having suffered severe or extreme emotional distress and
- Actual or proximate causation.
